Anna Vinnitskaya is Artist in Residence 2023/24 at the Kammerakademie Potsdam

On September 2, 2023, the Kammerakademie Potsdam will open its 2023/24 season with Anna Vinnitskaya as artist in residence and principal conductor Antonello Manacorda on the podium. The program will include Rachmaninoff's 1st Piano Concerto. This will be followed in October by a joint guest appearance at the Essen Philharmonie with Bach's concertos for one, two and three pianos; then, back in Potsdam in March, a chamber concert with piano quintets by Weinberg and Schumann is scheduled.

For the crowning finale of the season, Anna Vinnitskaya will conduct both Shostakovich piano concertos as well as Bach's Piano Concerto No. 5 in F minor BWV 1056 from the piano: "In general, I think that with some works and especially with good orchestras, it can be an advantage to play without a conductor, because the musicians in the orchestra are more involved and making music together feels like one big chamber music. The roles between soloist and orchestra are then more fluid, the walls disappear, everyone forms a unit and merges into a homogeneous overall sound."
